Since 2011, we’ve been helping major construction, housebuilders and infrastructure, amongst others, to deliver more sustainable worksites, using sustainable technology that can completely replace fossil fuel fleets.
We introduced the first solar-only powered street light to the UK. Ensuring it worked all year round and in all weather conditions – in the UK climate, took six months of intensive work.
We installed 34.8 kW of solar panels at our headquarters in Clevedon, saving nearly 200 tonnes of CO2 annually and generating 264 MWh of electricity each year.
Demand for our solar street lights started rocketing, and we were constantly look at how we could enhance our street lighting capabilities. We ended the side of our business that managed large-scale solar PV installations, so that we could focus solely on product development.
We launched the UK’s first mobile Solar Lighting Tower, ProLight. Based on our experience with solar, battery and off-grid energy, we saw a space in the market for solar-only tower lights, eliminating the need for diesel, engine maintenance and refuelling time. We continued to invest in sustainable solutions at our Clevedon HQ, with the installation of air source heat pumps.
Our easy-to-install ProTemp Temporary Street Light was launched as we saw a gap in the market and were first to setup solar-only temp lighting. Working with the rail industry we developed a battery-only 100m length of rail side lighting, the ProTrack Battery Link Lighting System.
Industry awards and nominations started to come in thick and fast, including the NCE Tech Fest Awards Finalist (Best Use of Technology – Carbon Reduction), Green Apple Award Winner (Environmental Best Practice) and Speedy Supplier Awards Winner (Innovation of the Year).
Based on the success of the ProLight Solar Tower Light, we consulted with key rail industry players and launched our solar-only ProRXM Tower Light that was specifically designed to accommodate sites with limited space and support the constraints of railways.
We delivered a large-scale M4 project for Balfour Beatty. We also purchased and planted 500 trees in partnership with North Somerset Council Natural Environment.
We acquired Solatainer, the off-grid solar generator, to add to our range of products. We were a finalist in the Highways England Awards (Excellence in Environment and Sustainability) and won the Green Apple Award again (Environmental Best Practice).
With our knowledge of off-grid solar and battery power, we decided to integrate a diesel engine, which could realise a large carbon and fuel saving from a solar-diesel hybrid. So we launched our groundbreaking ProPower Solar Hybrid Generator with our own custom-built telematics. The Prolectric Smart Remote Portals, our cloud-based real-time remote monitoring and control hubs. This combination of know-how, experience and technology has made us the market-leaders.
We are holders of the Gold Corporate Social Responsibility Accreditation for our contributions in environment, workplace, community and philanthropy.
We received the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise (Sustainable Development). Were purchased by Hill & Smith Holdings PLC, the FTSE 250 £1Bn international group, providing sustainable infrastructure and safe transport solutions. We were also named Wates Innovation Partners and ‘highly commended’ for Kier Constructions’ Green Dragons Award.
Demand for our ProPower Solar Hybrid Generator accelerated fast. We won the AMPS Innovation & Technology Award and were nominated for the Business Insider ‘Made in the South West’ and Bristol Business Awards.
We introduced our new rehire division ProRehire, to work directly with Rental Partners through our cross-hire model. After the successful introduction of our original ProPower, we launched our powerful ProPower 3-Phase Solar Battery System.
We won the highly coveted ‘Carbon Reduction Champion’ award at the Construction News Awards.
In the pursuit of achieving new engineering standards and to improve lighting efficiency, Prolectric launched the ProRXM Hybrid Solar Lighting Tower in 2024, in response to market demand.
We launched our game-changing ProCharge Solar Battery Energy Storage System to facilitate large power-hungry sites and drive the change to renewable resources.
