Our four sustainability pillars
Sustainability isn’t just a principle – it’s a proven way we help customers cut costs, reduce carbon and meet their environmental goals. Our products, services and operations are built around four core pillars:
Low-Carbon Product Innovation
We design and manufacture off-grid solar lighting towers, solar hybrid generators and battery storage systems that replace diesel-powered alternatives.
By switching to our technology, customers in construction, infrastructure, facilities management and events achieve:

- Lower fuel consumption and operational costs.

Expert Guidance on Decarbonisation
We don’t just supply products – we support customers through their entire decarbonisation journey. Our sustainability specialists provide:
- Advice on replacing diesel or mains-powered lighting and generators.
- Data on carbon and cost savings for business cases.
- Best practice recommendations to help meet net-zero targets sooner.
Leading by Example in Our Operations
We actively reduce our own environmental footprint by:
- Transitioning our sales vehicle fleet to electric vehicles.
- Installing onsite EV charging points powered by our own solar energy storage.
- Sourcing 100% of our electricity from self-generated solar or certified renewable energy suppliers.
Our HQ is powered by 34.8 kW of PV solar panels, generating 277 MWh of clean energy to date – saving almost 742 tonnes of COâ‚‚ emissions. In the first half of 2025 alone, we produced 21 MWh of renewable electricity. We’ve also invested in air source heat pumps and LED lighting across all premises to increase efficiency.
Transparent Measurement & Science-Based Targets
We have tracked our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions since 2017, monitoring progress and driving continuous improvement.
We work closely with our supply chain, encouraging suppliers to make operational changes that cut emissions and adopt more sustainable practices.
As part of the Hill & Smith Holdings Group, we are:
- Committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), joining thousands of businesses worldwide in setting greenhouse gas reduction targets that align with climate science.
- Net-zero for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2040.
- Net-zero across our full supply chain (Scope 3) by 2050.
We are working passionately to reach these goals ahead of schedule.
From the way we design products to how we power our facilities, every decision is made with a focus on carbon reduction, efficiency and environmental responsibility.
