Background

Avon Valley Park hosts some of the South West’s most popular seasonal attractions, including its award-winning Fear Scream Park and Christmas events. During peak visitor periods, temporary lighting is essential to safely manage vehicle movements across large off-grid car parks.

Previously, diesel lighting towers were used throughout the site, creating ongoing fuel costs, manual maintenance requirements and unnecessary emissions. Looking for a cleaner, lower-maintenance alternative, Avon Valley partnered with Prolectric to trial ten ProRXM solar lighting towers across the event season.

The Challenge

The event team required temporary lighting that could:

  • Operate without mains power
  • Improve visitor safety throughout busy evening events
  • Eliminate diesel refuelling
  • Reduce operating costs
  • Remove manual switching of lighting during fireworks displays
  • Support Avon Valley’s sustainability objectives

Previously, staff were required to manually switch lighting towers off during fireworks displays before returning afterwards to illuminate visitor exit routes, creating additional workload during the busiest periods.

The Solution

Prolectric supplied ten ProRXM solar lighting towers as a fully managed temporary lighting solution.

Each unit was:

  • Delivered and positioned before the events opened
  • Configured for optimum lighting coverage
  • Programmed with automatic operating schedules
  • Remotely monitored throughout the event season

The fully autonomous operation eliminated refuelling, reduced maintenance visits and ensured reliable lighting throughout the event programme.
