Prolectric Supports Decarbonisation Challenges Highlighted at CPA Conference 2026
Reflecting on this year’s event, off-grid power and lighting specialist Prolectric welcomed this year’s Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) Conference as a timely opportunity for the sector to confront the barriers holding back UK construction by identifying practical ways to help Britain build more efficiently, sustainably and resiliently.
Held under the theme of ‘Unlocking the Nation’s Growth Plans’ at One Great George Street in Westminster, the event brought together almost 150 delegates from across the plant-hire, construction, supply chain, communications and political communities. For Prolectric, the agenda reflected the urgent need for joined-up action across policy, investment, skills and technology to support a more productive construction sector, while accelerating the transition away from diesel-dependent site operations.
Prolectric welcomed the conference’s final session, ‘Decarbonisation and Preparing for the Future’, led by Luis Bassett, CPA’s Decarbonisation and Sustainability Manager. As a timely and practical discussion on the industry’s route to lower-carbon operations, Bassett warned that climate change remains a very real threat, noting that an average global temperature increase of 1.5C took 40 generations in the past, yet at current rates could be reached in just three, with consequences including flooding, reduced crop growth and damage to infrastructure.
John Foster, Managing Director, Prolectric comments: “Prolectric supports the CPA’s pragmatic approach, recognising that while Net Zero cannot be achieved overnight, measured, staged reductions are essential to help construction businesses transition away from fossil fuels and towards cleaner, more resilient site power solutions.”
“At a time of fuel price volatility, growing pressure on project costs and increasing expectations around emissions reduction, solar and hybrid technologies offer a practical way to strengthen business continuity, improve cost control and reduce exposure to diesel dependency.”
